BioMedIA

Imperial College London – Department of Computing

Background

In the summer between my Second and Third year I undertook a 10 week Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) placement in the Biomedical Image Analysis group in Imperial College’s Department of Computing.

Project

Over the course of the placement I developed a plugin for the Medical Imaging Interaction Toolkit (MITK) that allowed the control of the software using hand gestures interpreted with an Intel RealSense SR300 3D camera.

As a side project I also developed a more general program that would allow rudimentary control of Windows operating system using hand gestures. It was primarily designed to control applications such as Zygote Body [1] for demonstration purposes.
